now is the winter of our discontent
Jan. 4th, 2008 06:00 amMy left shoulder has always been a little higher than my right. A *little* higher. Maybe half an inch? Shoulder pain tends to pull the left shoulder higher, presumably because of muscle spasm. (Oddly enough, hand pain also pulls it higher.) At the physical therapist's office the other day, when I was learning a new stretch, he said, "Try it looking at the mirror. Maybe that will help you get the position." I looked at the mirror and realized my left shoulder was more than 2" higher than my right.
Now I'm putting on the adhesive heating pad, which claims to be "inconspicuous under clothes." Not surprisingly, that depends on the clothes. It only adds another half inch or so of bulk. I'm just self-conscious about adding it to the top of my left shoulder.
I ought to reread "The Daughter of Time." The last time I tried, I was too impatient with the racism to get back into story or character, but I can still remember loving it.
