Threes
From WordWeaverLynn, who had it from Puzzld1:
THREE GREAT PLEASURES
1. Telling an old story to someone who not only has
never heard it, but has never imagined the possibility
of anything remotely like it
2. Cooking an old favorite recipe for someone special, who has never tasted it (I had no idea a midwestern American, now living in VERMONT, could be so astonished by stew with dumplings. Sure, the stew came out really well, but he'd never tasted dumplings before!)
3. Taking turns reading out loud
THREE THINGS THAT SCARE ME
1. Cold
2. Suicide
3. The prospect of Alzheimer’s (hitting me or my mother)
THREE THINGS I DON'T UNDERSTAND
1. Learned helplessness
2. My own anger
3. "Blood is thicker than water"
THREE THINGS I AM WEARING RIGHT NOW
1. thermal underwear
2. corduroy trousers
3. snowpants
THREE THINGS ON MY DESK (at home)
1. computer with decent connectivity (unlike this one)
2. desk lamp with good light (bless its figurative heart)
3. book of short stories, just in case, I think the one at the moment might be by Ruth Rendell but I haven't been home all week.
THREE THINGS I KNOW ABOUT LOVE
1. It's a great deal more complicated than it looks at first blush
2. Love needs role models. Every time I've seen someone try to manage without, it's been more or less disastrous. My parents were fairly weak role models...but the ones in most of the common culture (most of the romantic heros are stalkers of one flavor or another) are downright appalling.
3. You don't need a romantic partner to be successful in life. They're not plot tokens. If love isn't making everyone involved happier than they'd be without it, in the long run, it's worth serious reconsideration.
THREE THINGS I KNOW ABOUT MARRIAGE
1. Don't marry an alcoholic.
2. Saying you're quitting is different from not being an alcoholic.
3. That, regrettably, is all the good advice I have to give about marriage at this time.
THREE WAYS I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED
1. As a loving partner
2. As a storyteller
3. As a loyal friend
THREE GOOD WAYS TO DESCRIBE MY PERSONALITY
1. Steady
2. Bright
3. Helpful
THREE BAD THINGS ABOUT MY PERSONALITY
1. Depressive
2. Straightforward
3. Boring (doesn't bore me, but what I like tends to bore others)
THREE PARTS OF MY (Genetic) HERITAGE
1. Jewish
2. Austrian
3. Russian
THREE THINGS I LIKE ABOUT MY BODY
1. hypersensitive sense of smell (mixed blessing)
2. can enjoy music with rhythm
3. walking
THREE THINGS I DON'T LIKE ABOUT MY BODY
1. Chronic pain
2. Seizures
3. The fact that what I do to accomodate disability and
depression looks so much like what other people do to
deliberately be regarded as more femme.
THREE THINGS MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME
1. I own a car, I'm just scared to drive it
2. My aversion to movies is neurological, not ideological
3. By the family standards, I'm short and rather stupid
THREE THINGS I SAY THE MOST:
1. Just a minute, I'm reading
2. Don't bother, I'll do it
3.
THREE THINGS I NEVER SAY:
1. I must have said that, but I don't remember
2. Let's go to the amusement park
3. I loved that movie
THREE PLACES I WANT TO VISIT
I'm not sure I want to visit places at all.
I want to visit people. Maybe I'd like to
see Germany again. I want to come back to
Vermont, but it has to be in summer. I can't
deal with this cold. For places I've never
been, perhaps:
1. San Francisco
2. Montreal
THREE LANDSCAPES I LOVE
Don't much care about landscapes
THREE QUALITIES I ADMIRE
1. Compassion
2. Perception
3. Clarity of expression
THREE NAMES THAT I GO BY
1. Adrian
2. Adri
3. Laura
