going to a party
Sep. 13th, 2003 08:27 pmThe migraine is still flaring, but not as badly as
yesterday. I said I'd be there, so I'm going. So
there. Right, the door is over there. I can do this.
This is a party being thrown by one of my favorite
colleagues, so showing up and being sociable is part
of my ongoing pretense...pretending to be healthy,
pretending to fit in. The pack dynamics are interesting.
Maybe if my head were working better, it would have
taken less energy to decide what to wear. This nifty
hat I got in Philadelphia defines the outfit. (BTW,
if you lost a nifty wide-brimmed black hat in
Philadelphia, at a party we both attended Labor Day
weekend, please contact me. Noire? MRF?) A hat this
nifty demands matching socks. (Socks that match each
other, I meant. Though they're also black socks, so I
suppose they match the hat, too.)
As I was saying, the door is over there. I can do this.
