seder

This evening, I'm going to have a virtual seder. I'm looking forward to it. I'm almost recovered from being sick (still short of breath when I walk or sing, but feeling a lot better.) I feel very lucky that I caught such a mild case, and that so many people reached out to help me.

I've never been to a virtual seder. I've never really hosted my own seder, though my parents might have done so as recently as 1986. Now I'm putting together seder plates and meals even though I'm going to sit by myself in front of the computer. I'm used to being a guest at somebody else's seder, and going by their local customs (some being more open than others to outside input.) Anyhow, this year is hard because I can't share the holiday with Hiranu and Dolfin (who are not on DW, and who were only marginally on LJ) and their kids. I can't even walk over to [personal profile] redbird's house!

Virtual. The wonders of modern technology mean I can celebrate with my havurah, and this will be good. What is local custom when everything is online? I'll be sitting at my dining room table, having a festive meal with 7 vegetarians. Usually, that mean I shouldn't have meat. Now? I don't know. (But chicken is festive, and there will be FOUR festive meals with mostly-vegetarians!! Fortunately, none of these people care at all about clothing.

Have a good holiday, whatever/whenever you celebrate.
Be safe from plagues and evil empires.

You, as well. May the worst of our consequences always be late to finding us.

I'm glad the havurah is being a support! And healing, well, healing takes the time it takes. :/
