back to normal?

I'm on hold with the hospital, waiting to pre-register for a routine but unpleasant EEG. As expected, they interrupt the music at intervals with announcements. Until very recently, any announcement in any remotely medical context was related to covid (get vaccinated, wear a mask, here's how to get tests). Maybe just "don't neglect other medical care because of covid; we can keep you safe."

Now they're just telling me how great the Mount Auburn Weight Loss Center is. Six. Times.

I hate enforced listening to advertising. Much sympathy!!

I hope the EEG goes well.

Cool!

When my son has EEGs, they put some kind of glue dissolver in his hair afterward, to help get the glue out. That seems to help!

Ugggh. Not that it will change, but that seems like a good thing to complain about having to listen to for hold music, given how much it is potentially disturbing and the high likelihood of quackery involved.

Fair. I suppose it would be equally as effective to go at it with the understanding that advertising these kinds of services to potential patients with conditions that would be exacerbated by having to listen to unhealthy messages about their body is not a good look for them, but it's probably better than 50-50 that they're okay with triggering those kinds of people.
