the dreidel nature

The whole point of a dreidel is to spin. Even the name is about turning (drehen in German, sov in Hebrew). It might have a dreidel shape, but it does not have the dreidel nature if it cannot spin. If it's 2-dimensional, it can't be a dreidel. If it's made of cake, even with the letters in colored icing on the sides, it can't be a dreidel because it's too squishy to spin. If it has a music box built into the top, so it's too top-heavy to stand, much less spin, it's not a dreidel. If it has a music box built into one side, so it staggers half a rotation and always lands shin-up, it's not a dreidel. Based on recent observations, young people these days think the true purpose of a dreidel is to play "The Dreidel Song." The dreidel game? Isn't that something like musical chairs?
