Medford, MA
Oct. 15th, 2004 09:24 pmSomebody sent me a package in such a way that it can't be delivered to my apartment building. I can't sign for it and ask them to leave it somewhere else. The infuriatingly conscientious people at Fed Ex need to see the thing in my hands. Their office in Medford is open Saturday, and less than 5 miles from here, according to the most direct route I could pick out on a map. The Fed Ex person I talked to on the phone told me the package was a small box weighing less than a pound, so I could walk it...but the round trip might end up taking a significant amount of my total time and energy. (And I have other things I'd like to do on Saturday.) According to the trip planner at www.mbta.com, I could get there by public transit, but it would take 3 buses, more than an hour, and a significant detour through Somerville.
It would be sensible and efficient for me to walk part of the way, and take a bus where a bus route coincided with my direct route. The MBTA website is not set up to make it easy for me to find such a bus route, if it exists. (Tonight, I can't even get the bus schedule maps to download, though they've worked on other occasions.) So I'm asking those of you who know Medford -- what bus goes along High Street to Riverside Ave? Does it continue along Riverside, or does another bus go down Riverside?
