missing buses (literal)
Jan. 8th, 2005 12:43 pmI had not realized the MBTA changed the bus schedules Jan 1. This might have something to do with my missing 6 buses last week. This is somewhat remarkable, considering I was only intending to take 9 buses over the whole week, but I blamed bad weather for some of it. Why should I look online to check the schedule for a bus I've taken routinely for almost 2 years? I know when it gets to my stop! Well, I know when it used to get there...working late has just become more challenging, because my bus home now runs hourly after 7:30. (It used to be every half-hour until 9:30.)
I think the route of the express bus (the 351) has really changed to go past the Lahey Clinic (not just a temporary accomodation for bad weather.) This means the express bus takes longer to get to my stop. I will need to test it on a few days when I am not missing any buses at all, and when there is a place to walk that is relatively clear of snow and ice (this could take a while) but this is likely to mean the express bus will take longer than the non-express bus. With the old bus schedule, they took almost exactly the same amount of time, and the weather (and other reading conditions) determined whether I preferred to walk or bounce around in a bus.
