footwear question
Dec. 20th, 2005 10:44 amThe suitcase is finite. The trip is finite. A week and a half long, but finite. Some people would probably take 3 pair of shoes for a week and a half, but that doesn't fit my priorities very well. I think of shoes as things that are needed for going outside, and for work, and for some kinds of formal or business dress. (I don't know if this qualifies as an alternative lifestyle, as I've lost track of the mainstream.) I will bring one pair of shoes, and I intend to bring them on my feet, rather than in my suitcase. The weather forecast is for the warm side of freezing, 25-45F with a lot of rain.
good walking shoes with no waterproofing or insulation at all.
my old low boots -- moderately warm, the left one is reasonably waterproof, the right one lets slush in very badly.
my amazing new winter boots -- comprehensively waterproof, insulated against severe cold. With heavy wool socks at 25F, I found them a little too warm for running around in dry weather.
Recommendations?
