It's true I have two beaten eggs, they cost me--
Well, no, it's not the eggs that cost. I have some pyrex baking dishes with silicone covers. I'm fond of them, and they *did* cost me relatively deep. When I bought them, Corning was stamping on them that the covers were only safe for refrigerator, freezer and microwave. "DO NOT USE COVER IN CONVENTIONAL OVEN"
This was a year or so before I started seeing inexpensive silicone baking gear all over the place. Pans, oven mitts, cookie sheets, all to use in conventional ovens without a second thought. I don't know if the composition is different from the covers of my pyrex ware, or just the shape and the marketing. Do any of you have old silicone covers that you've used in the oven, contrary to label directions? Or have you found (where?) new baking dishes based on the same concept, made with oven-safe silicone? I don't want to just put my old silicone covers in the oven and risk destroying them. It's not that I value them so much for use in refrigerator, freezer, or microwave, but I really don't want to lose them for use in my backpack.
