1. A reason not to panic. The insurance claim people are at work part of this week.

2. A reason to panic. They need me to fax them my title to the car. According to their records, the bank still owns most of the car, and thus the insurance payment should go to the bank. This is despite the fact that I finished paying off the bank in 2001. The title is not in the file I labeled, "Car--other than insurance," nor is it in the car itself. (I am not sufficiently fond of the car to give it a name, but all cars in MA are supposed to have titles.)

3. A further reason to panic. The insurance company needs the police accident report. The police gave me a report about the accident, but apparently that does not qualify as "the police accident report." These people are crazy.

4. A reason not to panic. The title to my car turned out to be in my linen closet, in the file labeled "$ 1998-2002," which at least is not crazy.

5. It has been a difficult morning. I will go see the dentist, and then come home and read _Kim_. Or perhaps _Kidnapped_?

About 90 minutes ago, I got a phone call from somebody. He had blocked his phone number from caller ID.

"Hello, this is Paul *mumble* from *mumble* Technical Staffing. May I please speak with [name I use professionally]?"

"This is [name]. Good morning, Paul."

"Oh, good. I found your resume *mumble*, and I was wondering if you were still looking for work?"

"Why, yes! Yes I am. I'm so glad you called. What kind of opportunity did you have in mind?"

*Signal faded. Call lost*

He has not called back. He has not sent e-mail. I have no way to reach him.
