black fleece

Reasons to wear the black fleece pullover with the
company emblem:
1) It's soft and fuzzy and comfortable.
2) It's "warm enough" in quite a lot of situations, either
by itself or as an extra layer, and light enough that I
rarely have strong objections to bringing it unless it's
hot enough that I just object to covering myself.
3) It fits me. This is still not trivial, though my wardrobe
is no longer actively shrinking.
(I'm not sure if "all the other kids [in the company]
wear them" is an argument for or against, so I'm not
counting it.)
Reasons not to wear it:
1) The pockets are shallow, and set too far back. They
only *seem* like good places to put things. I lost my
cell phone this morning. (answering maching message:
"Hi. This is your cell phone. You left me on a bus....")
2) It makes me less visible in low light. Twilight is
starting around 7, and will only get earlier. Some of
the roads I walk along don't have streetlights. Others
have streetlights that are often not lit, perhaps as a
way for the town to save money. I'm afraid of being
invisible to traffic, especially because I'm not always
as alert as I'd like to be. I was walking through
Davis Square last night, and I came out of a timeslip
standing on a curb. A friend's hand was around my upper
arm and he was offering me a ride home, very gently. I
don't know if I would have stopped myself, and that scares
me badly. I feel like I should get rid of my
dignified-looking long black coat, devote this fleece to
indoor use, and get glow in the dark outerwear. Or at
least blaze orange.
3) My work is largly focused on fine white powders. It
would be more appropriate for me to dress in chef's whites
than in fuzzy black clothing.
