I overheard this cry from the heart of a deeply
frustrated geek, who has more than his share of
the mad-scientist nature.

"I don't care how inaccurate it is! I just want
an answer NOW."

I was shocked. Horrified. Touched by a very
strong moment of sympathy. Then I realized he
really meant it. He would rather make decisions
NOW, using wrong information, than either put
off the decisions or make them with full awareness
that the information was missing.

Poll below. Discussion is more interesting than
simple answers.

Do you often feel like "an answer NOW" is much
more important than "a good answer?"

Only in a few contexts, or generally?

Do you have a scientific education?

Do you spend most of your time working with words,
things, or people?

Is "There's never time to do it right. There's
only time to do it over," a joke, or not?
