Here I am

I've finally joined the great exodus from Usenet.
Or maybe I left a while ago, and was just waiting
for an appropriate place to share certain kinds of
thoughts. Sometimes I want something more public
than private e-mail, or even e-mail to a small,
closed group. The potential that strangers will
wander by can liven things up considerably. But
that doesn't mean I want to gird my loins for
defensive rear-guard arguments in a sea of hostility
and/or cluelessness. (So to speak.) I'll see how
this goes. Many thanks to those who offered codes.
