Nov. 12th, 2005 09:08 pmI went for ice cream with Calluna V, and we sat in front of Toscannini's for hours. It's really a little too cold for ideal sitting outside and talking, but we were talking about such happy books (_Pawn in Frankincense_, _Mirror Dance_, _Bone Dance_) we didn't want to stop. Calluna is good to talk to, and we will have to do it again sometime. Perhaps even indoors.
I was about to recommend _Song of Ice and Fire_, on grounds of realistically complicated motives leading to horrible consequences, but I just finished _A Feast for Crows_. I recognize that world-building on that scale is *hard*, that most people just build a city or two. But I am still really frustrated by what feels like half the book I was waiting for. Redbird is being very sensible to wait until the whole thing is written before starting to read it.
EDIT: I meant _Bone PEOPLE_, not _Bone Dance_. I'm almost entirely certain Calluna and I were talking about the same book, though we might both have failed to name it properly.
