snow this morning
Apr. 7th, 2026 11:37 pmA few days ago I heard someone talk about how the warmth of April was so hopeful yet so fragile. This morning we had snow, if only for a few minutes. I hope this will be the last Frost* for a while.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still
You're one month on in the middle of May
But if you so much as dare to speak
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch
A wind comes down from a frozen peak
And you're two months back in the middle of March.
*ETA, Robert Frost. The poem has lived rent-free in my head for 50 years but is not mine
