older siblings

adrian_turtleIf you were 3 years old, and your mommy were going to have a baby soon, is there anything you would particularly want, from aunts or uncles or adult friends? The child already has several picture books about families having new babies (or puppies, or cubs, or whatever) and the big sibling adjusting to the changes. Of course, if there's something spectacularly good in that direction, I'd still like to know about it.
We're going to have some playdates soon, just the two of us. (I remember that my daddy took me to the zoo when my baby brother was new, even though it was still winter. It's the first thing I can remember.) Her family is stressed, even though it's happy stress. I want to help, and she's not good at sorting out the realistic parts of what she wants. I can't give her more time with a mommy who isn't tired and distracted, and I'm not sure what else to offer. Might a baby doll help?
