I was in the kitchen when the noise started. I thought it was a thunderstorm, and went to close the windows. No problem, I'm not scared of thunderstorms. It was fireworks, as those of you who like fireworks probably expect. (Happy Canada Day.) In past years, fireworks sounded enough like gunfire to make me flinch hard. Fireworks still are not safe for me, but now they feel like the same kind of dangerous as fire trucks and ambulances. I think it says something good about living here so long.
