little lost turtle

adrian_turtleThis happened 6 weeks ago, but I haven't told many people about it. I don't like talking about painful subjects, especially when there doesn't seem to be anything to say beyond "That's awful" and "I'm sorry."
The last time I traveled by air, I lost Dracomir. I took him out of my bag to sleep with on the plane, because I was feeling insecure. Then I must have gotten confused or distracted when the plane landed and people were gathering their things. I never saw him again. None of the various Lost & Founds (airport or airline) could find him. I checked back a few days later, and he still hadn't turned up. I miss him.
Stephen offered to give me a new turtle. I don't think that would help. I might get a new quilted turtle puppet that looked just like Dracomir (as in my new icon), but it wouldn't really be Dracomir. It would just be another stuffed animal, and I have plenty of those. I have particular attachments to a few of them, but mostly not so much. I'd like to think of someone finding my turtle on the plane and bringing him home to be part of the family. Of course, he wouldn't be my turtle anymore, he wouldn't be Dracomir. He'd be Logan, or Dulles, and start again like Paddington.
